Tap Dance originated in 18th century America, cotton plantations, where the African traditional rhythms united with Irish folk dance culture. Over time it has evolved and acquired various stylistic features. Each dancer has the opportunity to create his/her own unique view of one of the genre styles. In this masterclass we will focus on the American Rhythm tap.

Alexander Ivashkevich is an actor of the Russian Theatre in Tallin, Estonia, a tap dancer, choreographer and the teacher of “Duff Tap Studio”. Alexander has studied performing arts, acting, dancing and singing in Ukraine and New York. He has previously taught in the US, Austria, Sweden, Finland,the UK and Russia. He has been a member of several theaters, including at Liepaja Theater. As a step dancer, Alexander has participated in various international dance projects in the USA, Finland, Germany, Russia, Estonia and Bulgaria. Duff Tap Studio, a self-created step dance group, has participated multiple times in the "IDO World Tap dance championship" in Germany.
